NHIAA Football Roundup: Bishop runs wild to lead Lancers


Dennis Bishop ran for 312 yards on 28 carries and scored three touchdowns and Aaron Gaudet connected with Nathaneal Kelly for a pair of scores to lead host Londonderry to a 45-14 win over Merrimack in Division I football action Friday night.

Londonderry grabbed a 31-7 halftime lead and rolled up 585 yards of offense, 500 of them on the ground. Bishop scored on runs of 5, 1 and 4 yards. Gaudet completed five of his 11 passes for 85 yards and the two scores.

Merrimack quarterback Devin Gillis completed 19 of his 26 passes for 166 yards and a pair of scores. He also was intercepted once.

Ian Roberts caught six passes for 44 yards and one of the Merrimack scores. Jordan Miranda had a pair of catches for 34 yards and the other Merrimack TD. Both teams are now 3-3.

Manchester Central 33, Manchester West 6: Jesiah Wade scored four touchdowns to lead the Little Green, who improved to 4-2, at Gill Stadium.

He carried 22 times for 150 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns, caught a 12-yard scoring pass and returned a kick 70 yards for a score. Central led 14-0 after the first quarter and 28-0 after three periods. West dropped to 0-6.




Nashua North 34, Timberlane 28 (OT): At Nashua, Demitri Jackson scored in overtime for North and the Titans defense held on Timberlane of Plaistow’s possession to earn the win.

Timberlane led 21-7 in the game after a 49-yard touchdown run from Tyler Furrey and then again 28-14 on another Furrey run. But North came back to tie the game when Brendan Martin scored from a yard out with less than 2:00 remaining to force overtime.




Nashua South 42, Dover 22: At Dover, South’s Trevor Knight ran for three touchdowns and threw for one more to Josh Perry to lead the Panthers to a 6-0 record. Andrew Decarter added two touchdowns for Nashua South.

Dover got touchdown passes from Jack Priester and Derek Stegman, both to Cam Ruwicki. Vinny Panetta scored the final Dover (2-4) touchdown and added a two-point conversion.

Division II

Merrimack Valley 28, Sanborn 7: At Penacook, Tucker Burt scored a rushing touchdown and Ivan Niyomugabo scored one on the ground and threw a TD pass to Tommy Schneider. Cal Martin and Blake Gaboriault notched interceptions for MV (5-1).
