NHIAA Roundup: Central, Pinkerton win in field hockey

Mikayla Nguyen and Abby Jackson each scored two goals to lead Manchester Central to a 4-1 field hockey victory against Nashua North at Stellos Stadium Wednesday.
Nguyen was assisted by Eileen Burke on the lone first half goal off a penalty corner. Nguyen scored again two minutes into the second period on a breakaway, assisted by senior co-captain Julie Deluisa.
 Kara Upton scored the only goal for North. Central is 4-6-2; North, 3-8-1.
Pinkerton 5, Bishop Guertin 4 (OT): At Derry, Kaylie DeCosmo scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime. Pinkerton improved to 11-1. BG dropped to 4-7. Mia Vecchione, Caley Prunier, Kristen Cameron, and Carly Caveny each had a goal for BG. Samantha Day, Haley Harrington and Gabby Guerard also scored for the Astros.
Londonderry 1, Bedford 1: At Londonderry, the Lancers (3-6-3) scored their goal in the 12th minute, by Jackie Curtin, assisted by Marissa Roger. Bedford got the equalizer at 35:25 from Amy Gagliardi. Victoria Cull had the assist for 5-5-2 Bedford.
Londonderry goalie Emily Downing had eight saves and Bedford keeper Paige Nowle stopped four shots.

Girls’ soccer

Epping 6, Concord Christian 2: Epping was led by Deanna McCullen with three goals.

Boys’ soccer

Souhegan 2, Goffstown 1: At Goffstown, the host Grizzlies (5-3-1) led 1-0 on a Jacob Gagnon goal, but Jack Facey and Mike Hayden scored in the second half to push Souhegan of Amherst (6-5-0) to the win.
Alvirne 2, Concord 1 (Monday): At Hudson, P.J. Busnach and Brett Richardson scored for the Broncos, who raised their record to 9-2-0. Jake Schofield (five saves) and Liam Regan (five saves) each shared time in the Alvirne goal. Concord fell to 8-2-1.
Volleyball
Bedford 3, Londonderry 0: At Londonderry, Bedford improved to 11-2 with a straight sets win by scores of 25-23, 25-21 and 26-24. Bedford was led by Hannah Koehler (13 kills, block) and Becca Foti (five kills, nine digs). LHS was led by Madison Milton (eight kills) and Taylor Collins (five blocks).
Winnisquam 3, Trinity 0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-10): Jenna Nalette of Trinity had eight service points and teammate Kayla Tremblay added five blocks. Jackie O’Connell had six digs for the Pioneers.
Merrimack 3, Keene 0 (25-15, 25-7, 25-10): Merrimack was led by Elise Jolly with seven kills. Tayla Schipilliti added three digs and Christie Roy had six kills. Jen Coffey contributed six digs and 13 kills to the win and Jo Coffey registered 29 assists.
Pinkerton 3, Bishop Guertin 1 (25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 25-9): Kelsey Cummings led Pinkerton with 18 digs and teammate Lexie Verreault added 12.
Campbell 3, Epping 1 (25-21, 27-25, 24-26, 25-14): Epping was led by Cassidy Garrow with four aces and 13 digs. Olivia Goodrich added 15 assists and six digs.
Hollis-Brookline 3, Manchester Memorial 0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-16): In Hollis. the Cavaliers (4-8) beat Memorial (2-10) behind Savannah Werne with 13 kills and three aces. Emily Cook added four kills, Kristin Johnson had four kills and Sophie Saunders contributed three kills. Selma Imamovic collected five service points for Memorial. Meaghan Six had 10 digs and Megan Esperance had two blocks. Sarah Labore added four kills.
Belmont 3, Franklin 0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-11) Belmont (10-1) was led by Megan Bailey with 24 assists.
