Canadian motorcyclist killed in Dixville Notch crash

DIXVILLE NOTCH — A Canadian man was killed Wednesday when he lost control of his motorcycle on Route 26.

State Police Staff Sgt. Robert H. Terhune said Raymond LaLancette, 72, of Quebec crossed the center line into the oncoming lane and hit the guardrail. His motorcycle then spun into the eastbound lane, where it collided with a van that had come to a stop.

No one in the van was injured in the 12:12 p.m. crash, Terhune said in a news release.

LaLancette was taken to the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Assisting troopers at the scene were Colebrook Police and Fire, the 45th Parallel EMS Service and the state Department of Transportation.

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper First Class Jonathan Stephens of Troop F at 603-846-5517.
