Owner charged over Concord house fire
Concord police on Thursday arrested the owner of the 23 Downing St. house heavily damaged by fire Monday and charged him with reckless conduct in connection with the fire.
Concord fire officials investigating the blaze became suspicious and notified police, who interviewed witnesses and obtained a search warrant for the house owned by Ronald K. Paige. Police said they found a Samurai-style sword inside.
Police were called to Pembroke Road in Concord about 9 a.m. Thursday for a domestic quarrel. They alleged Paige damaged two doors and a window in the apartment belonging to his girlfriend. Paige was arrested on three counts of domestic criminal mischief.
He also is charged with felon in possession of a firearm and breach of bail conditions.
He was to be arraigned in Concord District Court.
Paige went to the hospital Monday to be treated for smoke inhalation and injuring his ankle while fleeing his burning house.
