Arlington Pond land not for sale, Salem officials say
Earlier this summer, it came to the town’s attention that two Aulson Road residents were using the docks to tie up their pontoon boats. The town asked the residents to remove those boats, while the residents asked town officials if there was a way they could purchase or lease the land and docks from the town.
Town Manager Keith Hickey said the fire department raised the possibility of using the property as a town dock, but noted that there is insufficient parking and access to the property.
The state’s Department of Environmental Services was informed about the use of the docks, and the state asked that the docks be removed, Hickey said.
At some point, the town could tie the property to land it already owns along the pond to make it one large piece of property, said Selectman Stephen Campbell.
