The "buy local" movement has a new partner in New Hampshire.
Granite Staters looking to support the local economy can now buy locally made products from their New Hampshire neighbors with the launch of GOSHOPNH.COM. The online store features only items that are designed, assembled or manufactured in the Granite State.
"Everyone is talking about the community benefits of buying from independent retailers; more money stays in the local economy and more jobs are created," said Katie McQuaid Cote, e-commerce manager at GOSHOPNH.COM.
Union Leader Corp. created GOSHOPNH.COM to highlight small businesses and help them reach a larger audience. The media company has operated as a New Hampshire business for 150 years.
The early response to GOSHOPNH.COM has been positive.
Pamela and Bill Stocker of Sunapee Granite Works were among the first to start selling their product, the American Bead Collection, at GOSHOPNH.COM. The handcrafted beads are designed to fit add-a-bead bracelets. They are made from New Hampshire's own granite and the bedrock of other U.S. states.
"Sunapee Granite Works is excited to be working in tandem with and selling our products through GOSHOPNH.COM," said Pamela Stocker. "We were impressed with their commitment to promote our state's small businesses. When we employ the concept of 'shop local,' we all do our part to stimulate New Hampshire's economy; and the folks at GoShopNH.com embody that mission with enthusiasm."
Every artisan and manufacturer represented on GOSHOPNH.COM has a passion for their product and a wonderful story behind it, said McQuaid Cote.
"When you shop at GOSHOPNH.COM for yourself or others, you can feel good about your spending, knowing you bought something special that reflects the individuality and independence of New Hampshire.
"We love local," said McQuaid Cote, noting that even the company's order fulfillment is handled by a local company, Alternative Logistics LLC in Nashua.
