BEDFORD - Bedford coach Kurt Hines called it a bittersweet win, considering his son Brock plays for Goffstown. Hines' team did its job in a 50-0 win at Bedford on Saturday.

Grizzlies coach Justin Hufft had a tall order facing one of the most dominant teams on both sides of the ball in Division I.

Bedford's defense has not given up a point in 13 quarters. Meanwhile the Bulldog offense is averaging 31 points a game.

The Bulldogs started off sluggish. A 6-yard touchdown run by Nick Vailas was negated by a holding penalty. The ensuing field goal try was blocked.

But Bedford found its groove on offense later in 1st quarter when Dan Colella capped an eight-play, 56-yard drive with a 1-yard plunge for a touchdown.

A failed extra point made it 6-0 at the end of the first. Two possessions later, Colella hit Nick Vailas for a 12-yard touchdown. A two-point conversion made it 14-0.

Goffstown quarterback Casey Gervais fumbled a handoff, giving the ball back to Bedford at its 33. Michael Collins took the next handoff to the end zone to make it 21-0 Bedford.

After a Goffstown three-and-out, Bedford marched 55 yards in eight plays for a 28-0 lead. Quarterback Dan Colella scored on a 1-yard sneak.

Before the half, the Grizzlies managed to get to the Bedford 12 but quarterback Matt Collins, in for Casey Gervais, was intercepted by Michael Vailas.

In the second half, Bedford added touchdowns by Aaron Palys and Colin Cashin. Connor Harrison forced a fumble that resulted in a safety to make the final score 50-0.

Coach Hufft hoped that his players learned something. "The way you get better is to go up against the best. Coach Hines runs a terrific program."

Bedford's Dan Colella went 9 of 15 for 140 yards passing with one touchdown throwing and two running.

Aaron Palys led the Bulldogs on the ground with 83 yards on five carries and one touchdown.

Campbell 43, Franklin 8: At Franklin, Campbell of Litchfield quarterback Chris McKenna scored two touchdowns on the ground and threw for three more to lead the Cougars to a win over host Franklin.

Connar Quigley added a rushing TD for Campbell and two of the TD passes went to Kyle Manning. The other went to Tyler Walton.

Five different receivers have touchdown catches for Campbell (3-1) this season. Franklin fell to 0-5.

Stevens 42, Mascoma 22: At Canaan, Stevens got four touchdowns from Donald Pellerin and quarterback Ryan Tanguay scored on a sneak and threw a 74-yard touchdown pass to Nate White.

Mascoma (2-2) led 22-21 in the third before Stevens (3-2) pulled away.
