WOLFEBORO - Assistance Canine Training Services (A.C.T.S.) will be holding their 5th annual celebration of Howl-O-Ween this year at the Nicholas J. Pernokas Recreation Park, known as "The Nick," on Sunday. Event activities begin at 11:30 a.m. In an effort to increase the family friendliness of the event, A.C.T.S. is excited to be introducing "The Kids Corner".
Each year Howl-O-Ween, sponsored by Winni Paw Station in Wolfeboro, offers a wide variety of activities for dogs and their handlers. Activity booths include the popular Agility Run, Minute to Win It, The Bone Yard, The Jump Chute, and more. Ribbon collecting seems to be one of the most popular unorganized activities at Howl-O-Ween. Most of the dogs that join in on the days events, proudly display their ribbons hanging from their collars or leashes.
This year A.C.T.S. has added The Kids Corner to the list of activities. The Kids Corner will include pumpkin painting, the ball bin, coloring pages, goodie bags, and more surprises.
In the Center Ring participants may join in on a variety of contests including Best Trick, Best Ears, Best Tail, Peanut Butter Eating Contest, Doggie Baseball, and of course, Costume Contests.
Also new this year will be the Howl-O-Ween Scavenger Hunt. Participants who complete the hunt will be able to place their completed punch card into a drawing for the Grand Prize.
Other activities include Canine Good Citizen Testing, Demonstrations, Nail Clipping, Silent Auction, and the always popular A.C.T.S. Bake Sale. The food booth will be sponsored by Wolfeboro Chiropractic.
A.C.T.S. is a non-profit organization located in Center Tuftonboro. A.C.T.S. trains service dogs for people with physical disabilities. Howl-O-Ween is one of the several fundraising events that help support the volunteer driven organization.
According to Event-Coordinator Diane Mullen, "As the owner of Winni Paw, I am happy to have a local organization that works with dogs in such an amazing way. I'm thrilled to help with this fundraiser."
Families and their dogs are welcome to come and enjoy the day. Bring your "best friend" and watch for the Service Puppies in Training that will be offering puppy kisses throughout the event. All dogs must be on leash. Please leave your flexi leads at home. For more information visit www.AssistanceCanine.org or call Winni Paw Station at 569-1990. Event rain date is October 27.
