NHIAA Sports Roundup: Late goal lifts Central over Timberlane

Mikayla Nguyen scored the only goal of the game with 28 seconds remaining in overtime to lift Manchester Central to a 1-0 win over visiting Timberlane of Plaistow in NHIAA field hockey action Friday.

Central goalie Mikaela Edmunds made seven saves for her second shutout of the season. Timberlane goalie Julie Walsh had four saves. Central is now 3-5-2 while Timberlane fell to 7-3.


Goffstown 6, John Stark 4: At Goffstown, the Grizzlies improved to 6-4 on goals from Nikki LeCour, Libby Gleason, Dulcie Trottier, Molly Norton and Olivia St. Jean, who also added an assist. John Stark of Weare goalie Jerrilyn Welch turned aside 19 shots.


Plymouth 2, Kingswood 1: At Wolfeboro, Kingswood led 1-0 in the second half, but less than five minutes later Plymouth had taken control on a goal from Rose Shimberg and the game-winner from Mia Brickley. Ann Furbush had both assists. Plymouth (6-4-1) goalie Emelia Karntakosol made seven saves. Kingswood fell to 1-8-1.

Girls' soccer

Trinity 4, Manchester West 1: At Manchester, Trinity improved to 3-6-0 with a win over city rival West (0-9-0). Trinity scorers were senior captain Sidney Elithorpe, freshman Noelle Theodoulou, Ashley Brenner and Hannah Brewitt. West got its tally from Ajna Masic in the 66th minute. Trinity junior goalie Jenna Arcand made seven saves, as did West keeper Katie Brockway.


Bedford 3, Spaulding 0: At Rochester, Anna Bogursky scored the first goal and Seana Gosselin added two more for Bedford in the win.


Goffstown 1, ConVal 0: At Peterborough, Georgia Caine scored the lone goal of the game to help the Grizzlies improve to 7-1-1. ConVal fell to 5-5.


Campbell 5, Conant 0: At Litchfield, Campbell (7-3-1) got goals from Hannah Neild, Jackie Sullivan, Jessica Manning, Natasha Abelson and Olivia Crema. Conant of Jaffrey fell to 0-7.

Boys' soccer

Hollis/Brookline 5, Milford 1: At Milford, Cole Owens, Sam Whitaker, Evan Porter, Ryan Papineau and Michael Pattelena all scored goals to lead the way for H/B (8-2) in Division II play. Owens added two assists.


Campbell 3, Conant 0: At Jaffrey, Jon Donaghey scored two goals in the second half for his 13th and 14th of the year and Andrew Smarse added the third. Campbell (5-5) goalkeeper Andrew Picard made seven saves for the shutout. Conant fell to 0-10.


Lebanon 3, Souhegan 0: At Lebanon, the hosts got goals from Tate Singleton, Wells Bogue and Kuda Muhlauri to improve to 8-2. Souhegan of Amherst fell to 5-5.

Volleyball

Salem 3, Londonderry 0: At Salem, the Blue Devils improved to 7-3 with wins of 25-18, 25-22 and 26-22. Salem was led by Shari Jaranovits (three blocks) and Kayla Hannon (11 assists). Londonderry (3-8) was paced by Madison Milton (eight kills), Emily Georgakopoulos (six assists) and Taylor Collins (four blocks).


Merrimack 3, Goffstown 0: At Goffstown, Merrimack improved to 8-2 with wins of 25-17, 27-25 and 25-19. Merrimack was led Christie Roy (five digs, three kills), Jen Coffey (four blocks seven digs, 16 kills), Jo Coffey (nine digs, three kills, 29 assists), Taylor Handy (block, five kills) and Elise Jolly (five blocks, five digs, five kills).

Goffstown (6-4) was led Kendra Siemiesz (23 assists), Kayleen Bertrand (seven kills, 10 digs) and Jess Williamson (11 kills, 11 digs).


Pinkerton 3, Hollis/Brookline 0: At Derry, Elizabeth Hicks recorded 12 digs to lead the way for the Astros, who won by scores of 26-24, 25-22 and 25-20.


Epping 3, Wilton-Lyndeborough 0: At Epping, the hosts got over .500 at 5-4 with the win. Ryen Gallagher (five aces, five kills,eight digs), Eliza Kucera (11 kills, five aces, 12 digs), Katie Pettis (17 digs) and Olivia Goodrich (four aces, 15 service points, five kills, 30 assists) led the way.
