NHIAA Roundup: Heath’s goals lift Pembroke boys to win
Parker Heath found the twine twice to lead Pembroke Academy to a 5-1 victory against St. Thomas Aquinas in boys’ soccer in Dover Tuesday.
Heath scored in the fourth and 17th minute and teammate Jeremy Caruso, assisted by Spencer Nowe, hit the score sheet in the 11th minute. Down 3-0, the Saints got a goal from Eric Eames, but Pembroke sealed the win behind tallies from Justus Turk and Jake Gaskell. Caruso and Brendon Pettigrew each had an assist in the win.
Salem 4, Timberlane 2: At Salem, the Owls received goals from Matt D’Arcangelo (assisted by Ben Enos) and Enos (assisted by Tyler Donovan) in the second half. Matt Rose had six saves for Timberlane (5-4).
Alvirne 4, Exeter 1: At Hudson, the Broncos (6-2) and Blue Hawks (5-3-2) were tied at halftime. Brett Richardson scored in the first half for Alvirne. P.J. Busnach, Raul Stedile and Richardson each had a goal in the second half.
Alvirne goalies Jake Schofield (six saves) and Liam Regan (save) each shared the win in nets.
Hopkinton 4, Bishop Brady 0: Riley McNicholas scored two goals and assisted on another to help Hopkinton to a win over Bishop Brady of Concord. The Hawks raised their record to 8-0. Tim Jones and Zach Rouleau also scored for Hopkinton, which recorded its seventh shutout of the season.
Raymond 4, Portsmouth Christian 0: Junior Tucker MacPherson scored three goals to help Raymond boys’ soccer team raise its Division III record to 7-1 by beating Portsmouth Christian Tuesday in Dover. MacPherson has a team-high 25 goals this season. Tristan McManus collected a goal and an assist for Raymond.
Raymond goalie Colin Deyarmin made five saves. The loss dropped Portsmouth Christian to 0-7 in Division IV.
Nashua North 5, Nashua South 1: Ahmed Abdelaziz scored twice to help North pull away in the second half and improve to 3-6 in Division I. Spencer Madden, Cam Motivala and Shayne Seidl also scored for North, which collected four goals after halftime. South fell to 1-9.
Bow 5, Campbell 1: John Donaghey’s goal was the offensive highlight for Campbell, which dropped to 4-5 in Division III. Bow led 4-1 at halftime and improved its record to 8-1.
Manchester Central 1, Manchester Memorial 0: At Gill Stadium, Sara Swetland scored the only goal in the 72nd minute. Emily Duchesne, in control of the ball down the left side, shoveled a cross pass to Swetland in the middle. Swetland’s shot found the twine to the lower right hand corner for 6-3 Central. Lindsey St. Pierre had two saves against 1-7-2 Memorial.
Portsmouth 5, Trinity 0: At Portsmouth, the Clippers (9-0-0) defeated the Pioneers (2-6-0) behind goals from Charley Prevost, Claudia Waddingham (assisted by Lennon Dobben-Annis), Julia Luff, Maggie Getman and Libby Underwood. Portsmouth goalie Phoebe Collins had eight saves. Trinity netminders Erin Manning and Jenna Arcand combined for 12 saves.
Moultonborough 2, Epping 1: Deanna McCullen scored Epping’s lone goal, on an assist from Ashley Krenzer. The Blue Devils dropped to 3-6.
Epping 3, Farmington 2: Evelyn Carleton and Sabrina Rivers were the goal scorers for Epping, now 3-5. Kayla Macleod had 12 saves in Monday’s win.
Campbell 4, Gilford 0: Sydney Crema scored three goals and her younger sister Olivia Crema scored once to help Campbell raise its record to 6-3-1. Freshman goaltender Jess Manning recorded four saves to collect her first varsity win. Gilford slipped to 2-6-1.
Goffstown 6, West 0: Goffstown received three goals from Michele Tremblay and two from Lexi Foster. Goffstown improved to 6-1-1. West dropped to 0-8.
Pembroke 1, St. Thomas 0: Bri Douglas scored the lone goal as Pembroke stretched its winning streak to three games and improved to 7-1-0 in Divison II. St. Thomas dropped to 0-8.
Souhegan 3, Pelham 2: The Sabers won Monday by scores of 18-25, 25-9, 25-21, 16-25 and 15-8. Jaime King had three aces, 10 kills and 17 assists. Amanda Gendron had three aces, seven kills, 12 assists and 11 digs.
Mascenic 3, Epping 0: At New Ipswich, Epping’s Eliza Kucera had six kills and nine digs, but Mascenic posted a 25-13, 25-11, 25-10 victory. Katie Pettis added 11 digs for Epping, which dropped to 4-4.
Campbell 3 Trinity 0: At Litchfield, Campbell improved to 8-1 behind Brianna Hardy (nine kills, 10 service points, six aces, 10 digs), Alex Trevains (eight kills, 11 service points), Sophie Scafidi (14 assists) and Lauren King (11 service points, seven aces).
Derryfield 1, Monadnock 0: Lainee Shaughnessy scored the game’s only goal as Derryfield improved to 9-0. Colbie Vaillancourt assisted on Shaughnessy’s goal. Monadnock dropped to 5-3.
Nashua North 3, Londonderry 2: Gabby Masseur, Caitlin Russell and Gabby Whitman scored for North (2-6-1) on Monday. Jackie Curtin scored both goals for Londonderry (3-5-2).Bedford 1, Concord 0: Kathlyn Rooney scored the lone goal Monday for Bedford.
