Police investigating weekend burglary at Goffstown school

GOFFSTOWN — Police are investigating a burglary at Maple Avenue School that may have been committed by juveniles.

According to Lt. Pierre Pouliot, "a concerned citizen" notified police about the burglary that happened on Sunday.

.
Police responded to the school after receiving a call that some juveniles were going into the building. The investigation is ongoing but police said they were led to several juveniles who entered the school and took several items.

Police would not say what was stolen, the estimated value or how the suspects entered the building.

There was no evidence of vandalism at the school, and Pouliot said this case and a graffiti attack on Sept. 1 are not related.

On Sept. 1, vandals spray-painted yellow and red paint on Maple Avenue School. No arrests have been made.

Police said profanity and the phrase 'Don't Tread on Me' were spray-painted on the side doors, the portable classroom and the back wall of the school. The graffiti was removed immediately and in time for the first day of class.

The vandals also targeted some cars on Spring Street, signs on Smith Road, a private garage on Summer Street, and buildings on Depot and Church streets — all within a half-mile to a mile from each other.

Anyone with information about the cases is asked to contact Goffstown police at 497-4858.
