Dartmouth falls to Holy Cross in home football opener

Dartmouth's home opener did not end the way the Big Green envisioned.

Holy Cross' John Macomber hit a 23-yard field goal with 51 seconds to play, helping the Crusaders to a 31-28 victory at Memorial Field on Saturday night.

Dartmouth (1-1) never trailed until the kick. Quarterback Dalyn Williams was 21 of 35 passing for 273 yards and three touchdowns. His favorite target was Bo Patterson, who grabbed two of those TD passes. Dominick Pierre ran for 124 yards and a touchdown for Dartmouth.

Holy Cross amassed 525 total yards of offense, including a 14-play, 67-yard march to set up the winning field goal.

Dartmouth open Ivy League play next Saturday afternoon at Pennsylvania.
