NHIAA Roundup: Memorial, Central draw in girls' soccer

Manchester Memorial's Bekka Sansouci put the Crusaders ahead with an early goal, but Mikayla Nguyen canceled the advantage with a second-half goal of her own for Central as the city rivals shared the spoils, 1-1, in Division I girls' soccer Saturday at Memorial.

Central is now 2-4-2 and Memorial is 0-6-2 on the season.Trinity 3, John Stark 2: Ashley Brenner's 78th-minute penalty, her second goal of the game, lifted the Pioneers in Division II girls' soccer.

Brenner scored early and assisted on Ashley Higgins' goal just after the break. Chloe Loos scored twice, including a 74th-minute penalty, for the hosts.

Madison Janelle made six saves for John Stark, while Jenna Arcand made 12 for Trinity.

Boys' Soccer

Derryfield 5, Portsmouth Christian 0: Griffin Phaneuf scored twice to lead the Cougars on Saturday.

Tucker Orminston, Jared Schoneberger and Jack St. Jean also scored goals.

Shaun Bradley made 14 saves for Portsmouth Christian, while Tommy Cissel made four for Derryfield.Hanover 2, Bedford 0: At Hanover, Xavier Tchana scored both goals, which were assisted by Daniel Hazlett. Hanover improved to 9-0-0, tops in Division I.

Bedford fell to 5-4. Hanover Alex Bynum had one save in the shutout for his eighth shutut in nine games. Bedford goalie Joshua Reeks made nine saves. Laconia 7, Winnisquam 2: At Laconia, the host Sachems built a 4-0 lead in the first half on goals from Kolby Fournier, James Salta, Jake Sykes and an own goal. Brent Clarke and another Sykes tally pushed the lead to 6-0. Nick Welch and Ben Wentworth scored for Winnisquam before Panthavy Pradachith closed the Laconia scoring.

Girls' Volleyball

Pinkerton 3, Londonderry 0: The Astros cruised by scores of 25-19, 32-30 and 25-22.

Elizabeth Hicks and Olivia Mathieu had 11 service points, while Mathieu had nine kills for Pinkerton.

Madison Milton had 11 kills and Taylor Collins had 16 service points for Londonderry.

Field hockey

Pinkerton 2, Londonderry 1 (OT): At Derry, Kaylie DeCosmo's goal midway through the overtime period was the game-winner for the Astros, 7-1. Londonderry's Tiana Federico scored the only goal of the first half and Erin Johnson tied it up in the second. The Lancers are 3-4-2.
