Dartmouth falls, 31-28, on last minute field goal

HANOVER -- Dartmouth dropped a heart-breaker in its first home game of the season, falling behind only in the final minute of play in losing to Holy Cross 31-28 Saturday night.
John Macomber's 23-yard field goal with 51 seconds to play capped a 13-play drive to give the Crusaders the victory.
Making his first collegiate start, freshman Peter Pujals passed for 290 yards and two touchdowns as Holy Cross beat Dartmouth for the eighth time in the team's last 10 meetings.
Pujals also rushed for 125 yards on 17 carries and scored on runs of 1 and 58 yards. Dartmouth (1-1) was led by Dalyn Williams, who was 21-for-35 passing for 273 including three touchdowns. Williams also ran for 87 yards on 19 carries.
Dartmouth jumped out to a 14-0 lead when Williams connected with Kyle Bramble on a 7-yard touchdown pass and Dominick Pierre followed with a 1-yard scoring run. But Holy Cross rallied to tie the game early in the third quarter on Pujals' first score.
The Crusaders later tied the game at 21 as Pujals hit Jake Wieczorek with a 33-yard touchdown pass.
