Early riser nabs alleged robber in Keene

KEENE — An early riser on Eastern Avenue led police to a car robbery suspect on Sunday morning.

Police said the Eastern Avenue resident saw a man going through her car in the driveway of her home shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday.

Police responded and found a suspect, Alexander Mellor, 20, of Weare, on the ground in the back yard of a Hancock Street address.

Mellor was charged with three counts of receiving stolen property, loitering, possession of a controlled drug, and refusing to be processed by polce.

Keene has been hit with a series of thefts from automobiles in recent weeks. Police said residents should lock the doors to their vehicles to deter criminals.

Anyone with information about car break-ins can report it to the Keene Police Department at 557-9813.
