CROP Hunger Walk is Saturday in Concord

CONCORD — The Greater Concord Interfaith Council CROP Hunger Walk is Saturday at noon, starting from the LDS Church, 90 Clinton St.

A portion of the funds raised will go to the Friendly Kitchen.

There will be a free meal of hot dogs, hamburgers, or veggieburgers for all participants at the end of the walk.

Participant include Bahai’i Faith Community, Boscawen Congregational Church, Bow Mills United Methodist Church, Canterbury Community United Church, Christ the King Parish, Concord Quaker Meeting Concordia Lutheran Church, Contoocook United Methodist Church, East Congregational Church, Concord, First Congregational Church, Concord, the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, Natural Dharma Fellowship, Pembroke United Church of Christ, South Congregational Church, Concord, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Suncook United Methodist Church, Unitarian Universalist Church of Concord, Wesley United Methodist Church, and West Congregational Church.

In 2012, 108 walkers raised more than $17,000.

This year, Concord and 2,000 cities and towns nationwide are joining in interfaith community CROP Hunger Walks with the theme “ending hunger one step at a time.”

Many of the CROP walkers will be wearing T-shirts proclaiming their solidarity with the millions of neighbors around the world who have to walk to live — as well as with the millions served by local food pantries, food banks, and meal sites in the U.S.
