Police say boy in wheelchair bumped by car

MEREDITH — A boy in a wheelchair was taken to a hospital after he was bumped by a car while he was crossing Main Street, police said.

Police said the boy was in a crosswalk when a car driven by Kenneth Brady, 47, of 65 Corliss Hill Road, bumped into him and knocked him down shortly after 5:15 p.m. Thursday. Police said Brady reported being distracted, but that neither drugs, alcohol nor cell phone use were factors in the accident.

The boy was not seriously injured, but was taken to Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia as a precaution, police said.
