Pelham police arrest 2 teens in connection with recent burglary spree
PELHAM – Police believe they may have ended a recent burglary spree in town ended with the arrest of two Massachusetts teens Tuesday afternoon.
Adam Bergeron, 19, of Bradford, Mass., and Justice Holmes, 17, of Haverhill, Mass., were charged with burglary, possession of drugs, and being fugitives from justice. In addition, the pair had multiple felony warrants out of Massachusetts and could face additional charges associated with a recent rash of burglaries in Pelham as well as in Merrimack and Plaistow.
Around 2 p.m. Tuesday, Pelham police responded to a report of a burglary in progress on Robinson Road. When officers arrived at the scene, they found evidence of a forced entry into the home, according to Lt. Brian McCarthy.
A witness gave officers a description of the two suspects and said they were last seen running into the woods toward Salem. Salem police were notified, and that department sent officers to the Pelham and Harley roads area of the town.
A Salem K9 officer helped in the search, and both departments worked to set up a perimeter and block possible exits, according to McCarthy.
"Shortly after, Salem officer Greg Pepper located two individuals on Harley Road in Salem matching the description of the burglary suspects," said McCarthy. "The individuals were positively identified by the witness as the two suspects observed running from the scene and into the woods. Evidence of the crime was located and the two suspects were subsequently arrested and transported to the Pelham Police Department."
Pelham detectives were able to link the pair to other burglaries, thefts, and approximately 15 vehicle break-ins in town, McCarthy said.
All the thefts and burglaries took place over the past four weeks in the Pelham Road area as well as near Kopers Lane and Dodge Road.
Bergeron and Holmes appeared in Salem District Court Wednesday morning, where they were held on bail and taken to the Valley Street Jail in Manchester. They are also under investigation for similar crimes in Plaistow, Merrimack, and Haverhill, Mass.
There were several reported house breaks in Plaistow over the weekend that police were investigating.
