Hooksett Staples will close Oct. 5

HOOKSETT — The Staples office supply store in the Hooksett Crossing shopping center near Exit 10 will close on Oct. 5, the company said this week.

The closest remaining Staples are on South Willow Street in Manchester, South River Road in Bedford and Fort Eddy Road in Concord.

Kaitlyn Reardon, a spokeswoman for Staples corporate office, would confirm only that the store was closing and that efforts are being made to transfer employees who wish to stay with the company.

The store opened in 2003 and was an original tenant in the Hooksett Crossing development along with Kohl’s, Game Stop and Subway.

Joe Harnan from KGI properties, which operates Hooksett Commons, said it’s the first vacancy in the plaza since it opened.

“We’re speaking with several potential retailers about the space,” Harnan said. “We’re very confident another tenant will take it over soon.”

Carole Gosselin of Hooksett is a frequent shopper.

“I’m really disappointed,” Gosselin said. “They’re going to be missed.”

She said she wasn’t looking forward to driving farther for items like school supplies.
