Trailways group to host pair of guided nature walks
Board member John Daley, a local doctor and avid hiker, will lead both of the upcoming excursions.The Peat Bog Section is 1.4 miles and is the longest section of the Rail Trail uninterrupted by roadways. This section of trail was recently awarded a federal $100,000 matching funds Land and Water Grant, according to Winslow.Bob Rimol, rail trail project coordinator, describes the Peat Bog section as peaceful and serene, with beautiful ponds and bogs. “You will likely see some wildlife and hopefully some fall color,” Rimol said.Both walks are free and open to the public. Those wishing to attend are asked to gather at the corner of Liberty and Independence drives at 3 p.m. on either day.
