LOUDON — Cole Custer qualified on the pole for today's K&N Pro Series East North American Power 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon.
Custer, one of two 15-year-olds in the field, is 12th in the series points standings.
Points leader Dylan Kwasniewski, 18 and the leader in points, qualified second and will start beside Custer.
"We unloaded real fast with a brand new car," Custer said. "I can't believe how good we are right now."
The minimum age to race on the K&N East series is 15.
Gray Gaulding, the other 15-year-old, is eighth in points and qualified ninth.
Kwasniewski has won the last two races on the series and five of the 11 events thus far.
Cory Joyce, who grew up in Gilford and is making his K&N debut, was 29th of the 30 qualifiers. He now races out of North Carolina.
John Salemi of Nashua qualified 25th.

NOTES: Ryan Newman doubled up on pole efforts when he went right back out after turning in a record Cup time and qualified first for today's F.W. Webb 100 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event. It was his fifth Modified pole overall and fourth at NHMS. He has four Modified wins in 13 career starts here. ... Donny Lia qualified second for the Modified race and Ryan Preece third. ... The Modified race goes at 12:15 p.m. today. The North American Power 100 K&N race is at 2:30 p.m. ... The American Canadian Tour Bond Auto Parts ACT Invitational, which includes Joey Polewarczyk Jr., of Hudson and Taylor Martin of Windham, is at 4:30 p.m.
