HOOKSETT - Among the hundreds of vendors selling crafts, food, pottery and more at the Hooksett Old Home Day Saturday was a local 9-year-old girl hoping to sell her colored tiles and lanyards.
Emily Bothwell of Hooksett proudly stood at the center of her booth, Creations By Emily, ready to sell some dozens of her creations.
"I like to create art, and I have stuff to spare," Emily said.
Emily's mother, Alice Bothwell, was with her daughter, but said of the two, Emily is the more experienced saleswoman.Bothwell added that the idea for getting a booth at Old Home Day came from a neighbor who was impressed by Emily's work.
"She liked her work so much she thought she should have a booth, and a lot of her friends and people who have seen her jewelry and art have asked about it, so we just told everyone to come to Old Home Day and buy some there," Bothwell said.
With a parade, games, bounce castles and a variety of vendors, hundreds of Granite Staters were ready for the event when it opened at 10 a.m. at Donati Field.
Michael Carpenter of Hooksett said it was good to catch up with old friends.
Tabitha Jennings of Hooksett went with her three daughters.
"It's fun for the whole family down here, usually there are lots of games and contests .... Fun for everyone," Jennings said.
Saundra Moser said she has lived in Hooksett for three years, but this year is the first year she decided to come to Old Home Day.
"It looks like a great place to get everyone together and have fun, and kids really wanted to see the parade," Moser said.
