SURRY — A 22-year-old Swanzey man was killed in a rollover crash on Route 12A Thursday. His 19-year-old passenger was seriously injured.
Edward Scott, 22, of Swanzey was found dead by emergency crews that responded to the scene around 11:04 a.m. on Thursday.
The passenger, Taime Adams, 19, of Keene had crawled out the back of the 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Scott had been driving.
The Mitsubishi had been traveling southbound on Route 12A at “a very high rate of speed, according to a witness, and evidence at the scene,” state police said. “The vehicle then lost control and left the right side of the roadway striking a large rock embankment and rolling over.”
Adams was taken to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene and was later airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon with serious but not life-threatening injuries, state police said.
The investigation is ongoing, state police said.
Surry and Keene firefighters and Keene police assisted state police at the scene.
