Bodies found in Hampton river
HAMPTON — The bodies of two men were pulled from the Hampton River Friday after they were found floating in the water.
Police responded to the river in the area of the Hampton River Boat Club after receiving a call at 10:47 a.m. from a person who reported seeing a body floating in the river.
Hampton Police Chief Jamie Sullivan said police used a small boat to recover the body and during the process investigators discovered a second body in the water around noon.
Police recovered the second body with help from New Hampshire Marine Patrol.
"Currently, our investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding (the discoveries), and there will be an autopsy performed Saturday," Sullivan said.
Sullivan said the two bodies are being treated as "untimely deaths" until the results of autopsies are available.
The identities of the two men are being withheld pending notification of family members.
Sullivan said police aren't sure how long the bodies were in the water.
Sullivan added there is nothing to indicate that there may be other bodies in the water.
