Nashua police say same man is responsible for 10 burglaries

NASHUA – A series of downtown burglaries that happened over the past month were committed by a lone burglar who was arrested Wednesday, police said.

Police said Calvin Degreenia, 27, last known address of 62 Myrtle St., is charged with nine counts of burglary and one count of theft by unauthorized taking.

From Aug. 17 to Sept. 6, there were 23 commercial burglaries reported in the downtown area, and police say Degreenia is responsible for 10 of them. The burglaries all occurred overnight with the thief primarily taking cash.

When he was arrested Wednesday, he was already in the Hillsborough County jail in Manchester, detained on a burglary charge in connection with the Sept. 6 break-in at Fody's Tavern, 9 Clinton St.

Once detectives arrested Degreenia for that burglary, they were able to tie him to a Sept. 4 break-in at the Car Parts Store, 15 Railroad Square.

Police said further investigation then tied him to seven other burglaries that happened between Aug. 19 and Sept. 5. They included Gray Nun Thrift Shop, 25 Marshall St., which was burglarized twice, on Aug. 19 and again on Aug. 20; Thousand Crane, 116 W. Pearl St., on Aug. 26 and again on Aug. 30; Bagel Alley, 1 Eldridge St., Aug. 31; Cravings, 64 E. Pearl St., reported on Sept. 1; Stella Blue, 70 E. Pearl St., Sept. 1; and Dannelly's Subs, 87 Allds St., Sept. 5.
