NHIAA Roundup: Lancers knock off undefeated Concord

Sophomore Hannah Cohen scored her first varsity goal to lead Londonderry to a 1-0 Division I field hockey victory against previously undefeated Concord in Londonderry Monday.
Cohen scored on a corner try at the 44:35 mark and the assist went to Tianna Federico. Londonderry goalie Emily Downing had four saves. The Lancers are 2-2 and Concord fell to 3-1.

Pinkerton 2, Timberlane 0: At Derry, Julie Saltamartini and Haley Harrington scored to lead the Astros (3-1) past previously unbeaten Timberlane of Plaistow (3-1). Kaylie DeCosmo and Samantha Day notched assists and goalie Jordan Dudley made three saves.

Keene 1, Bishop Guertin 0 (OT): At Keene, Maddie Hubbard scored the only goal of the game, knocking home a crossing pass from Sadie Borden in overtime. Bishop Guertin (1-3) goalie Kelly Mahoney made seven saves in the loss. Keene (2-2) goalies Sage Bennis (six saves) and Jess Lavalle (four saves) combined for the shutout.

Winnacunnet 1, Salem 0: At Hampton, Caitlin Fratto scored in the 58th minute to keep Winnacunnet undefeated at 5-0. Lily Cragg made seven saves for the shutout and Salem (4-1) goalie Meghan Williams stopped three.

Derryfield 7, Mascoma Valley 0: In Manchester, sophomore forward Polly Carter recorded her first varsity hat trick to lead the Cougars (4-0). Carter scored the game’s first three goals in a span of 11 minutes in the first half. On the season she has seven goals. Colbi Vaillancourt scored her ninth and 10th season goals for Derryfield which has scored 30 goals. Carolyn Adie and Berklee Vaillancourt (her seventh goal, two assists) were the other scorers for Derryfield, which posted its fourth shutout win behind goalie Kate Johnson.

Boys’ soccer

Raymond 3, Somersworth 0: At Somersworth, Tucker MacPherson scored a goal and added an assist to push Raymond to 3-1-0 on the season. Tristan McManus and Billy Harmon scored the other Raymond goals and goalie Collin Deyarmin made seven saves for his second consecutive shutout. Somersworth fell to 0-4.

Pembroke 7, Merrimack Valley 1 (Saturday): In Penacook, Parker Heath and Spencer Nowe each scored two goals for the Spartans. Jeremy Caruso, Aaron Locke and Justus Turk each scored once for Pembroke. Austin Sartwell had two assists in the win.

Hopkinton 2, Sanborn 0: At Sanborn, Riley McNicholas and Doug Fluery (assisted by Nick Fluery) scored to lead Hopkinton (4-0). Rob Ferguson made three saves in the win.

Portsmouth 3, Souhegan 1: In Amherst, Souhegan goalie Teigue Young stopped eight shots and Mike Hayden scored the lone goal. Kyle Siverts scored twice for Portsmouth (3-1-1). Souhegan falls to 3-3.

Girls’ soccer

Derryfield 6, Pittsfield 0: At Pittsfield, freshman Gabi Brummett scored four goals and added two assists to keep visiting Derryfield School of Manchester undefeated at 3-0-0. Chloe Warner and Kelly Collins scored the other goals. Cameron Huftalen made 10 saves for the shutout. Pittsfield is 2-2.

Newmarket 5, Concord Christian Academy 0: At Newmarket, Kat Holmes scored two goals and Morgan Young, Alisa Cote and Gigi Dubois added single tallies to lead Newmarket.

Volleyball

Londonderry 3, Manchester Central 0: At Londonderry, Taylor Collins recorded 10 kills and Cassie Burbine had 16 assists to lead Londonderry (1-3). Central fell to 0-3.

Bishop Guertin 3, Manchester Memorial 0: At Manchester, the Cardinals improved to 3-1 with game scores of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-18. Kim Smith (five kills), Michelle Langlois (five kills), Kelsi Massicotte (16 digs) and Kasey Massicotte (18 assists) paced BG.

Souhegan 3, Manchester West 0: At Amherst, Jamie King (seven aces, 10 assists), Ella Garvey (six aces, two kills, two digs) and Esther Johnson (three blocks, two kills) led the way for Souhegan (2-1) in wins of 25-6, 25-8 and 25-16. Manchester West fell to 0-3.

Exeter 3, Pinkerton 1 (15-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22): Exeter (3-1) was led by Katie Journeay and Hannah McDonald, each with nine kills. Elizabeth Hicks (14 assists, 19 digs), Lexi Verrault (15 digs), Nicole Langlais (14 digs), Olivia Mathieu (20 digs) and Taylor Ferdinando (10 assists, eight digs) each played well for Pinkerton.

Bedford 3, Winnacunnet 1 (20-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23): Bedford (1-2) was led by Courtney O’Connell (10 kills, 2 blocks), Morgan Edwards (6 kills, 6 digs, 3 aces) and Kristen Barnett (4 kills, 3 aces, 10 digs). Winnacunnet (1-3) was led by Chynna Wan with five kills and Melina Minichello with three kills. Meg Knollmeyer also had four kills and two blocks.

Spaulding 3, Goffstown 2 (25-20, 21-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-12): In Rochester, Spaulding (4-0) was led by Jade Gilidden (32 assists),

Jane Douglas (16 kills) and Casey Ford (63 digs). Goffstown was led by Jess Williamson (15 kills, four aces), Rene Roggenbuck (nine kills, 11 blocks) and Kendra Siemiesz with 25 assists and three blocks. Goffstown is 1-2.
