Small fire snuffed at Sig Sauer

September 17. 2013 10:11PM

PORTSMOUTH — A small fire in a firing range in the Sig Sauer building on Pease Boulevard drew a small response on Tuesday evening.

Portsmouth fire Capt. Todd Germain said the fire, caused by gunpowder residue, was out before fire crews arrived.

Crews were called to check on the extinguished fire, which caused enough smoke to set off the alarm system.

He said everyone was back in the building before fire crews left the scene around 7 p.m. and outside of the firing range there is no damage to the building.Fire crews were on scene for less than 20 minutes, he said.
