Nashua has delicious plans for Fall Restaurant Week
NASHUA — The city’s outdoor dining will soon be heading indoors as the leaves begin to change colors, but not before one last hurrah for downtown patrons.
Next week, Fall Restaurant Week will kick off its annual dining festival with special promotions and discounts at numerous dining establishments on and around Main Street.
“This event is such a great opportunity for families to sample new restaurants and return to old favorites,” said Rebecca Dixon, executive director of Nashua’s Great American Downtown.
Fourteen local restaurants are participating in Nashua’s sixth annual Fall Restaurant Week, which will take place from Sept. 23-29.
Special dining deals are being offered throughout the weeklong event, which is designed to entice residents to eat and shop downtown, according to organizers.
Hosted by Great American Downtown, the restaurant week is traditionally held in October, but this year’s event was pushed ahead, partly because of the nice weather, said Dixon.
“Fall makes you think of comfort food, crisp air and great dining,” said Dixon. “With the kids back to school, this is a good opportunity to take a break and enjoy a nice date with your spouse.”
On average, between 5,000 and 6,000 extra diners will hit the downtown area throughout the week, according to Dixon.
Eateries will be featuring special weeklong promotions to best showcase their restaurants, including seasonal dishes, prix fixe dining (a complete meal at a fixed price), 20 percent off meal deals and other extraordinary offers, according to organizers.
Participating in the dining festival for the first time will be Nancy’s Diner at 25 Canal St.
“This is a unique, old-fashioned ’50s style diner that recently opened in the city. They will be offering great discounts to highlight their new establishment,” said Dixon.
Another familiar establishment participating is the Old Amsterdam bar and lounge at 8 Temple St. In addition to live entertainment, the restaurant will be offering two special mixology classes on Sept. 28 taught by bartender Jared Bracci.
Fody’s Great American Tavern is offering a buy one entree and receive a second entree free, while Portland Pie Co. is serving up a special dining for two deal for $24.99.
At the San Francisco Kitchen, diners will receive 20 percent off their food bill during Fall Restaurant Week, and Surf Seafood Restaurant will be featuring miso salmon, surf and turf and pecan pie cheesecake for dessert.
New this year, Fall Restaurant Week will coincide with ArtWalk 2013, which will take place from Sept. 27-29. ArtWalk is Nashua’s premier arts event featuring downtown studios, galleries, demonstrations, musical entertainment and more, according to its website.
