Manchester’s NAACP sets Oct. 5 Freedom Fund dinner

MANCHESTER — Five community leaders will be honored next month when the Manchester branch of the NAACP holds its fifth Freedom Fund dinner, the organization said.

The dinner will take place Oct. 5 at the Puritan Conference Center in Manchester. The theme is “Civil Rights, Then and Now” and the guest speaker will be writer/entrepreneur Kevin Powell. The Brooklyn resident has written 11 books, and his most recent is “Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan, and the Ghost of Dr. King.”

The five honorees are the Rev. Bill Exner, William Gillett, Sandra Hicks, Rashida Mohamed and Claudette Williams.
