Pleasant Lake in New London to be drawn down for repairs
NEW LONDON — Pleasant Lake will be drawn down, beginning Monday, Sept. 16, to permit repairs to the Pleasant Lake dam.
The water level will be lowered between 3 and 4 feet to allow the necessary repair of cracks in the concrete face wall of the dam.
The cracks in the dam face wall were identified in a Letter of Deficiency by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Dam Bureau.
The plan is to begin work on the dam around Sept. 30, with completion of the repairs by the end of October, before the arrival of freezing temperatures.
When the dam repair work is complete, the dam gate will be set to winter levels.
