Concession stand at Pelham's Raymond Park proposed

PELHAM — The Parks and Recreation Department wants to use money raised by the soccer and lacrosse programs to build a new concession stand at Raymond Park.

Parks and Recreation Director Brian Johnson said the department is looking to put the project out to bid and estimates the total cost will be between $60,000 and $70,000.

Johnson said once the department gets a bid on concrete for the project, he will be able to determine whether additional money will have to be raised for the project or if it will be scaled down.

“We want to have a concession stand and storage at the fields like we do at Muldoon Park,” said Johnson.

Once the septic design for the project is completed, the town will then be able to put the entire project out for competitive bids.

Edmund Gleason, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, asked whether any of the work on the project could be done by volunteers. In order to make sure the building is up to code and there are no safety liabilities, Johnson said the town would be better off putting it out for the competitive bids.
Town Manager Tom Gaydos said that when it gets to the point where the project will go out to bid, he and Johnson will come back before selectmen to update them on the process.aswift@newstote.com
