Laura Costes and Lydia Lawrence scored second-half goals and Paige Noble stopped 15 shots to lead Bedford to a 2-1 victory over visiting Bishop Guertin of Nashua in a field hockey game Saturday night. Bedford is 2-0.Timberlane 3, Nashua North 1: Caitlin Russell scored the lone goal for North.
John Stark 1, Oyster River 0: Meg Gordan’s late second-half goal, assisted by Brooke Shatney, was the difference in the Friday game. Maddie Janelle had the shutout.Souhegan 2, Pembroke 1, OT: Kristin Kezar made 20 saves for Pembroke on Friday night in Amherst.
Salem 3, Merrimack 1: Todd Righini, Reed Grubbs and Zach Grady scored for visiting Salem (3-0) on Friday night. Romiro Larragan scored Merrimack’s (1-0) goal.
Belmont 3, Mascoma 0: Senior captain Megan Bailey led the Belmont attack with 14 acres and 14 assists in a 25-10, 25-8, 25-2 triumph. Alyssa Woods and Louisa Bergeron added five and four kills, respectively. Alex Lugar had 11 service points, including six aces.Campbell 3, Portsmouth Christian 2: Hannah Fabiano and Alex Trevains had seven kills each in the Cougars’ 25-20, 25-16, 19-25, 19-25, 15-10 win. Lauren King added 11 service points, including eight aces. Sophie Scafidi had 14 assists and Val Boucher added 12 digs, six service points and three aces.
Salem 3, Goffstown 1: Alyssa Matthews (four aces, 14 digs), Amanda Bickford (14 kills, 19 digs) and Ashley Mathews (11 kills) led Salem in its 16-25, 25-18, 25-21, 27-25 season-opening win. Goffstown was paced by Jessica Williamson (eight kills, three aces), Rene Roggenbuck (10 kills, five blocks) and Kendra Siemiesz (17 assists, two blocks).
Nute 3, Inter-Lakes 0: Jordan Donahue and Lydia Swedberg paced the Lakers in their 27-25, 25-16, 25-23 loss on Friday night. Donahue had 14 kills and nine service points, and Swedberg had 16 service points and 12 digs. Hayley Roth (17 assists), Victoria Burns (10 digs) and Kaila Martin (seven kills) helped Inter-Lakes.
