NORTHFIELD – A Franklin motorcyclist suffered a serious head injury in an accident involving a car and a telephone pole on Shedd Road near the Spaulding Youth Center Wednesday night.

Tilton-Northfield Fire Capt. David Hall said the motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was taken to Franklin Regional Hospital, where he was airlifted by DHART helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

The victim, who was in his 20s, had a non-life-threatening injury, Hall said.
"He was conscious, and he knew who he was, but it was a serious injury," he said.

The man was not wearing a helmet, he said.

The accident occurred at 7:10 p.m. near the youth center, but did not involve youth center personnel or students.

Hall said the accident involved the motorcycle, a telephone pole and another car, but did not have further details of how the crash occurred.

Police were still at the scene reconstructing the accident late Wednesday night, Hall said.
