Tips help Dover police collar another Fugitive of the Week
Tips from the public are credited with the apprehension of a parolee featured as the current United States Marshals Service fugitive of the week.
Jose Garcia was arrested in Dover after authorities received tips from citizens who had seen Garcia identified as Fugitive of the Week in a Marshal's service feature that appears in the New Hampshire Union Leader and other media outlets.
The tipsters reported seeing Garcia on Baker Street in Dover. He was wanted for probation violations and for domestic assault.
The investigation that led to Garcia's capture was led by the Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, including officers from the state Probation and Parole division, police from Somersworth and Dover and deputy U.S. Marshals.
Since the program began in 2002, more 5,37 arrests have been attributed to publicity from the Fugitive of the Week feature.
Garcia is being held at the Strafford County Jail and will appear in court this week.
