John DiStaso's Granite Status: Still another Scott Brown appearance slated: this one for conservative group fund-raiser

THURSDAY, AUG. 29: MORE SCOTT BROWN. Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown will continue to make appearances in New Hampshire right into the fall.

After making several appearances at GOP events in New Hampshire throughout the spring, last weekend, Brown was on stage with the rock band Cheap Trick at the Hampton Beach Casino.

Today, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported that Brown will appear at the Nashua Lion's Club 90th anniversary dinner on Sept. 14.

Now, we've learned that on Oct. 6, Brown will be featured at a fund-raiser for the conservative advocacy group "Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire" in Portsmouth.

The event will precede the New England Patriots' game and is being called "A Patriots Tailgate with Scott Brown."

Hosts are Portsmouth business executive Dan and Renee Plummer (she is a GOP activist who served on the Republican National Convention rules committee a year ago) at their home at Harbour Place. Tickets are expected to be priced at $75. An official announcement is expected next week.

Brown has recently ruled out a run for Massachusetts governor but continues to draw interest about a possible run for the U.S. Senate from New Hampshire next year, which he has not ruled out.

He has a vacation home in Rye but would have to establish residence in the state in order to run to try to unseat incumbent Democrat Jeanne Shaheen.

This will be the "Citizens" group's first of two fund-raisers in a week. It has already announced a fund-raiser to be held on Oct. 12 in Manchester to feature Louisiana state Sen. Elbert Guillory and, tentatively, Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa.
