What's open, closed Monday
Unlike holidays that are tied to a specific date — such as July 4 — that can be any day of the week, or holidays that have been moved to Mondays to create long weekends — such as Memorial Day — Labor Day has always been on Monday.
One thing is certain. There will be no public school classes Monday. Some kids, including those in 152 district regular and charter schools have already started classes, but they get the day off Monday.
There will be no regular United States Postal Service mail delivery or counter service and UPS and FEDEX are closed.
So if Monday is your usual trash/yard waste collection day, it won't be picked up Monday in Manchester, Nashua, Concord, Dover and Portsmouth. Concord, Nashua and Dover say Monday's routes will be done Tuesday and everyone else's will slide a day. But Portsmouth combines Monday and Tuesday trash/recycling pickups on Tuesday, making up time by skipping Monday and Tuesday yard waste pickups.
