Boy hurt in collision with motorcycle improving


The condition of a Manchester boy, injured when his bicycle collided with a motorcycle Saturday evening, has been upgraded from critical to serious.

Justin Laclair, 11, who lives on Concord Street, is in the intensive care unit at Boston Children's Hospital, where he was transferred after initial treatment at the Elliot Hospital following the accident at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the boy, who was riding with two friends who were not injured, was not wearing a helmet when a motorcycle traveling east on Spruce Street collided with the boy's BMX-style bicycle at the intersection with Old Falls Road.

Police said Hickory Murray, 25, of Manchester, was operating a 1980 Kawasaki motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet and was transported to the Elliot Hospital for treatment of scrapes and bruises.

Police Lt. Maureen Tessier Tuesday said the investigation is not complete, but police do not anticipate any charges being filed against Murray.
