Milford robbery suspect is wanted in several New York robberies

MERRIMACK — A suspect wanted in connection with several New York robberies is being held on $250,000 cash bail for allegedly brandishing a shotgun and robbing a local bank last week.

Milford's Frank J. Mione, 47, of 16 Birchwood Lane, Apt. F, has been arrested and charged with armed robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm for the Aug. 21 incident at the TD Bank, 300 Daniel Webster Highway, in Merrimack.

Merrimack police say Mione allegedly entered the bank armed with a Mossberg short-barreled shotgun, pointed it at two tellers and demanded cash.

According to court documents, Mione threatened to shoot bank employees Michele Harley and Andrea Blanchard. They ultimately handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to Mione, said police.

Although Mione fled the scene, police said tips from the public helped authorities develop a suspect. Mione was arrested on Tuesday after a search warrant was conducted at his Milford residence.

"With the assistance of the Milford Police Department, detectives searched Mione's residence in Milford and were able to recover evidence from the Aug. 21 robbery," Merrimack police said in a statement.

Mione was arraigned Tuesday at the 9th Circuit Court, Merrimack Division.

According to a New York Post article from June, Mione is alleged to have joined forces with Maverick Madore, 20, to allegedly rob at least seven Manhattan banks earlier this year, collecting more than $25,000 in the process.

Although Madore had been previously arrested, Mione was still at large until his arrest this week in New Hampshire.

"He has an extensive criminal background," Merrimack police Lt. Denise Roy said of Mione, adding he was previously convicted for bank robberies in New York.

The Merrimack Police Department has been in contact with New York police regarding Mione's recent arrest. However, Roy said there are currently no active arrest warrants for Mione out of New York despite his alleged involvement in the spring and summer bank robberies with Madore in Manhattan.

"I can't say one way or another," Roy said of whether New York police will now issue additional arrest warrants since Mione has been located and taken into custody.

Mione was previously convicted of theft by unauthorized taking on Aug. 12, 2002 out of Hillsborough County Superior Court for a Hudson incident, according to Roy. She said he is currently not a suspect in any other New Hampshire bank robberies.
