Families Invited to Jackson Hill Cider Day
The early fall festival, held among the apple trees of the old orchard, will feature cider-making, children's crafts, tours of the historic house, music by members of the New England Irish Harp Orchestra, stories by the New Hampshire Theatre Project and yummy apple refreshments.
Traditional arts such as basketry, timber-framing, and spinning will be demonstrated and animals from the Spencer-Pierce-Little Farm in Newbury, Massachusetts will add to the fun. The Jackson House is located at 76 Northwest Street in Portsmouth, just off Maplewood Avenue overlooking the North Mill Pond.
Admission to the event is $6 for adults, $3 for children, and free to members of Historic New England. Tickets may be purchased in advance by visiting the Events page at www.historicnewengland.org, or by calling 603-436-3205.
