Enjoy all the colors of Fall in the White Mountain's Waterville Valley

WATERVILLE VALLEY – At Waterville Valley Resort, located in the middle of the White Mountain National Forest, a full slate is on tap this fall for those seeking the best colors of foliage season.

Town Square Condos is offering an Autumn Wine & Dine package that includes lodging in a one-bedroom condo at Town Square, a three-course dinner at The Lantern Restaurant, and a 25 percent discount on bottled wine. Autumn rates are $200 for two guests per night during the week, and $227 per night on weekends.

Room-only rates in Town Square Condos start at $129 midweek and $149 on the weekend. Both packages and room-only rates include Freedom Pass activities such as golf, tennis, mountain bike rental, chairlift ride, and admission to the White Mountain Athletic Club.

Waterville Valley's Town Square has several festivals to complement the foliage season. On Sunday, Sept. 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., welcome the colorful fall season with free outdoor concerts, games for all members of the family, a barbecue and sidewalk sales. At the annual charity duck race on Snow's Brook, contestants have the chance to win cash prizes if their duck is one of the three fastest, and the final duck across the finish line wins something quacky.

On Sept. 28, visitors will find out if they can take the heat at the 15th annual Chili Challenge. This event will be held in the Town Square with area restaurants competing for the title of best chili around. For a small fee, guests may sample each of the contenders' entries and then cast their votes for favorite spicy recipes. Other Chili Challenge activities include a chili bean toss, chili pepper-eating challenge and an outdoor concert in the gazebo. The event will be held from noon until the chili is gone. The cost to sample all Chili Challenge entries is $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

The White Mountain Storytelling Festival returns to Waterville Valley for the third year, from Sept. 27 29, bringing tales for guests of all ages. More than a dozen experienced storytellers will share tales ranging from ghost stories to children's stories, and even stories for adults. A special storytelling session with a nationally known storyteller will finish the festival on Saturday night. For more information, visit www.nhstorytelling.com.

For those who love motor vehicles, the 2nd annual Rally in the Valley will be held in Waterville Valley on Saturday, Oct. 5. Presented by the East Coast Camaro Club, the rally will feature cars, music, food, and a 50/50 raffle. Dash plaques will be presented to the first 100 vehicles.

Celebrate the arrival of fall with Waterville Valley's Fall Foliage Fest over Columbus Day Weekend, Oct. 12-14. A weekend of fun family events is planned including kids' games, pumpkin painting, and a pie-eating contest. For those looking for a deal, there will be merchant tent sales and the annual BBTS ski and snowboard swap.

Foliage is the perfect time of the year to hike and bike Waterville Valley's extensive trail system that includes more than 30 miles of marked and maintained mountain bike trails and more than 100 miles of hiking trails and paths. Whether it's a leisurely ride around town or a dirt-kicking expedition through the autumn woods, visitors will find plenty of trails to suit their moods.

Waterville Valley Resort was designed and planned as a self-contained, four season resort with activities for the whole family. In addition to its world-class ski area, Waterville Valley Resort has award-winning tennis courts, golf, hiking, biking, boating, an indoor ice rink, a skate park, kids camp programs, and a host of other family activities and summer festivals.
