Cilley departs as Shea-Porter's district director; Gilboy takes over

MANCHESTER -- Former state Sen. and 2012 candidate for governor Jackie Cilley has left as U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter's district director, has learned.

Shea-Porter's office said only that Cilley, of Barrington, is pursuing "other opportunities."

Shea-Porter's current outreach director, Chuck Gilboy, will take over in the district director's post, the office said.

Cilley is a former two-term state senator who lost to Maggie Hassan in last year's Democratic gubernatorial primary. Top Democratic sources said that while party insiders are speculating that Cilley may have plans to seek office again, she has no plans to run against any incumbent Democrat for governor, executive council or state senator in 2014.

Shea-Porter named Cilley district director shortly after reclaiming the 1st District U.S. House seat last November.

Gilboy started working for Shea-Porter in 2008. A New England native, Gilboy holds a Bachelor's degree in political science from Elon University.

"Chuck Gilboy has extensive knowledge of the issues facing New Hampshire," Shea-Porter said. "His experience working with federal, state, and local governments will be an enormous asset to this office and to New Hampshire's First District."

According to Shea-Porter's office, Gilboy will continue to work out of Shea-Porter's Manchester and Rochester offices. He will officially begin his duties as District Director next Tuesday, Sept. 3.

"Our office thanks Jackie Cilley for her service to New Hampshire," Shea-Porter said. "We appreciate the work that Jackie did helping to get our Manchester and Rochester district offices up and running, and we wish her luck in her future endeavors."
