Louisiana’s Elbert Guillory among speakers slated for conservative conference/fund-raiser

The conservative advocacy group Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire is planning a fund-raising conference for mid-October with several out-of-state conservatives expected to appear.

The first annual “Strong New Hampshire Conference” event on Oct. 12 will include several speakers who will address the crowd “on issues pertinent to the mission of our organization -- ensuring we promote and preserve strong families and a strong economy for the Granite State,” the group said.

U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, has been “tentatively confirmed,” said Citizens group spokesman Derek Dufresne.

Confirmed speakers are:

- Louisiana state Sen.  Elbert L. Guillory, an African-American who received national media attention after switching his party allegiance from Democratic to Republican and released a video detailing “Why I Am a Republican.”

- Boston talk radio host and author Howie Carr.

- Jordon Sekulow, executive director of the American Center for Law and Justice.

Ticket prices are $45 per person and $80 per couple with multiple other sponsorship opportunities available, according to the group.

The event will be held from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. on Oct. 12 at the Executive Court in Manchester.

“Over the past year, Granite Staters have joined together as Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire to call on their elected officials to support the principles of limited government, less spending, and lower taxes,” said Dufresne. “We are excited to announce our first nnual ‘Strong New Hampshire Conference,’ which will include important messages from some very distinguished speakers, will allow us showcase the work we have accomplished and focus on how we can continue to effectively fight for the issues we hold dear.”
