Armed robbery in Tilton

TILTON – Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who robbed a local convenience store at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon.

Police received a call that there was an armed robbery in progress at 3:30 p.m. at the Tilton Shop Express at 622 Laconia Road, according to Police Chief Robert Cormier.

The store’s clerk told police that a man walked into the store holding a handgun and wearing a mask. The man then pointed the gun at the clerk and threatened him, demanding money. The clerk handed the man money from the register, and the man fled on foot behind the store, Cormier said.

The suspected robber is described as a white male, of tall, thin build, wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, a dark mask and dark colored pants.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact Tilton police at 286-4442 or via the crime tip line, which is 855-286-6565.
