Hanefeld tied for lead at NEPGA

New Hampshire native Kirk Hanefeld enters today's final round of the 2013 New England PGA Championship in a three-way tie for first place at the Wannamoisett Country Club in East Providence, R.I.

Hanefeld's two-day 67-69-136 total ties him with first day leader Robby Bruns (65-71-136) of Shelter Harbor GC of Charlestown, R.I., and Jim Seavey (66-70-136) of Maine's Samoset Resort.

Hanefeld is a three-time New England PGA champion and a two-time Senior PGA Professional National Championship winner. Hanefeld, a native of Claremont, started Tuesday's round two shots behind Bruns.

Hanefeld will be among a field of 65 golfers who made the cut of 150.

Daniel Wilkins of Laconia CC (69-73-142) and Matt Arvanitis of Concord (72-70-142) are tied for 14th place.

Greg Sandell of the Golf Club of New England of Stratham (71-74-145) is tied for 27th.

Two other local golfers who qualified for the final round are Bill Andrews of Portsmouth (73-75-148) and Todd Rollins of Laconia (75-74-149).

ForMatt tournament

Jeff Lombardo's hole in one was the highlight of this year's ForMatt Foundation Golf Tournament, which was played at Derryfield Country Club recently. Lombardo's ace came on the par-3, 157-yard 12th hole. His playing partners were Bill Haubrich, Billy Haubrich and Kristen Haubrich.

There were 84 players in the event, which was a four-person team scramble. John Raleigh, Tom Thornton, Jeff Duval and Chris Stamoulis took first place with a 57. Mike McGuinness (eighth hole) and Bob Kelly (12th hole) won closest-to-the-pin prizes among men, and Ali Puffer (eighth hole) and Kristen Haubrich (12th hole) took closest-to-the-pin awards among women.
Ryan Blossom and Kristen Haubrich had the longest drives (17th hole) among men and women respectively.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit The ForMatt Foundation

Deadlocked at 150 were the teams of Tara Watt and Roberta Cullity along with Joanna Teas and Liz Lafferty.

The first net winners were Kim Hughes and Eileen Conway with a 119 tally followed by Carla Pratte and Anita Aubin at 123.
