Maine, N.H. amend suit against owner of tanker that struck bridge

The first change is that the states' claims are now based not only on their joint ownership of the bridge, but also "their obligation to repair and maintain the bridge." That expanded definition of the states' interest could also expand the value of their respective damages. The second change to the lawsuit is that a $2.4 million "special release bond," posted by the owner of the tanker in order to leave the Portsmouth port, has been substituted in the federal suit for the tanker itself.
