Cowabunga's to expand its Hooksett facilities
HOOKSETT — Cowabunga’s, the largest indoor inflatable playground in New England, is expanding its play space by 4,000 square feet to attract new customers.
Cowabunga’s opened with a 14,000-square-foot facility in August 2011 and is owned by Kelly and Matthew Pearson of Pembroke.
“Our biggest thing was private birthdays, but based on the feedback we got from our customers it was clear they wanted us open on the weekends so they could just come play. So we reworked our business plan and our facilities to accommodate everything that people want,” Kelly Pearson said.
By adding a large private area, Pearson added that the business would be able to handle private parties and customers who just want to come bounce simultaneously instead of one at a time.
“We figured out that within four months or so we could end up paying off all our expansion, so it’s pretty much a no-brainer for us. We could end up doubling our revenue by not just doing private birthdays, though we still do that, but now we are opening up to a bunch of people who have never been here before. These are two different groups. Now we have expanded our hours so we do have open bounce times on the weekdays,” Pearson said.
She added that a key to her and her husband’s business plan is flexibility. “We are constantly revising how we do things,” she said.
A key to the expansion was listening to customers.
“This is all based on feedback from our customers. They have been huge part of making us a big success,” Pearson said.
With the expansion of the building, Pearson said she also expects to expand her workforce from 20 workers to about 25 should everything go according to plan.
