Four men in stolen car charged after reported Bethlehem assault
Three Maine men and another from New Jersey were arrested in Bethlehem early Wednesday while allegedly riding in a stolen vehicle after assaulting a fifth man who managed to escape.
The four men face charges ranging from possession of crack cocaine to being fugitive from justice.
New Hampshire State Police found a man walking south on Interstate 93 in Lincoln near Exit 33 at 4:22 a.m. The man, whom they did not identify, said he had been held against his will and assaulted by four men. He told police a handgun went off during the assault, but no one was hurt. The man said he escaped the vehicle when it briefly went off the road.
Bethlehem police found the vehicle a short time later on Route 3 in Franconia. The four people inside were arrested and charged as follows:
Dane Holmes, 22, Augusta, Maine, possession of crack cocaine; Daeshawn McDonald, 22, Newark, N.J., receiving stolen property because the vehicle had been stolen earlier in Maine; Stephon Davis, 17, Belgrade Lakes, Maine, obstructing governmental administration for allegedly providing a false name; Nicholas Hutchings, 28, of Augusta, Maine, on a fugitive from justice warrant from Maine.
