Hiker rescued after falling 200 feet on Mount Washington
State Fish and Game officers say Russell Kinkade, 25, of Pembroke, Mass., was hiking with a Maine man when they reached a point of the headwall where they couldn't climb higher.
They tried to climb back down when Kinkade slipped and fell 200 feet down the slope.
Mt. Washington State Park workers responded from the summit and provided emergency first aid.
Rescue workers responded from state Fish and Game, the state Park Department, the Gorham Fire Department, Androscoggin Search and Rescue, as well as volunteers from Mountain Rescue Service.
A team of 30 rescuers carried Kinkaid over rugged mountain terrain to the Pinkham Notch Visitors Center from which he was transported for treatment. The rescue began at about 4 p.m. Saturday and was completed at 3 a.m. Sunday morning.
