Nashua taxi driver robbed at knifepoint

NASHUA -- A local taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint Thursday night by a passenger who was arrested and charged about 10 minutes later, police said.

The driver, whose name was not immediately available on Friday, was not injured in the incident.

According to police, Kevin R. Dumont, 26, of 18 Hilindale Dr., Hudson, was a passenger in the cab when he allegedly took out a knife and robbed the driver around 7:50 p.m. in the area of Concord and Orange streets.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken in the incident, said police.

Following a brief search of the area, police learned Dumont ran into an apartment building on Summer Street. It took authorities about 10 minutes to catch up with Dumont, who was arrested at a relative's residence on Summer Street.

He was charged with one felony count of robbery, held overnight at the police station and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning at the 9th Circuit Court, Nashua District Division.
