Coventry, R.I., takes 13-year-old Babe Ruth title

Manny Bjorklund of Coventry R.I. drove in 11 runs in two games including six in the second championship game to lead his team past Plymouth, Mass. 19-13 for the 13-year-old Babe Ruth New England Regional Baseball Tournament championship at Gill Stadium in Manchester on Thursday.

Coventry defeated Plymouth 17-8 earlier in the evening to force the second title game. Coventry earns a World Series berth to Williston, N.D.

Coventry led 11-10 before scoring eight runs in the sixth inning. Bjorklund, who had a three-run homer in the first game, highlighted the nightcap win with a grand slam.
